Adopting a Veteran & 2017 International Travel Info.Night

Adopting a Veteran
As part of our new Advisory program, we decided to dedicate 3 Advisory days to honor our nation's Veterans.  The first Advisory included an assembly that featured members of the armed forces speaking to students about their experiences in the military.  Students and staff are grateful that two great speakers with distinguished military careers,  Lt. Col John Giger and Major General Bruce Zukauskas, gave heartfelt speeches to the staff and the student body.

Keeping with the 2015-2016 Advisory theme of local community service, the second Advisory required each class to adopt an active member of the armed forces.  On Thursday we intend to send a care package complete with a card and words of gratitude, a GD hat, a GD lanyard, and additional acceptable items.  If possible, we are asking each student to donate a dollar or two to help pay the $18 shipping charge.  Please remind your son/daughter to bring in their items on Thursday. If parents wish to donate items or money to help defray the cost of shipping you can do so in the main office.

Global Scholars 2017 Travel Opportunities Presentation
We will hold an informational night highlighting the 2017 travel opportunities on Thursday, December 3rd at 6pm in the BBX Theater.

The trips are part of the Global Scholars Program we started two years ago.  At the conclusion of the presentation students will have the opportunity to register for the 2017 trips. Space is limited and students will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. For your convenience, I have included a link to the detailed itinerary of each trip. Please note, the China service learning trip has been replaced by a service learning opportunity in Peru.
