2017-2018 Parking information

For all students who wish to apply for a parking permit prior to the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.

Parking applications are currently available in the main office of the high school and will be available on the website soon.

Coaching Appointments

Thanks to all staff, students and parents who participated in the interview process.

Last Tuesday our Athletic Coach Selection Committee consisting of the Athletic Director, a faculty member, a parent and 4 current participants in our volleyball program interviewed 2 candidates for the position of Head Coach.  Upon deliberations it was agreed that Lori Herberich (formerly our JV coach) would be offered the position for the 2017 season.  She accepted the offer on Thursday and met with our incoming Freshmen class on Friday afternoon at the MS.

Likewise, we seated the Athletic Director, a faculty member, a parent of a player and 3 current participants in our girls soccer program to interview 2 candidates for the position of Head Coach.  Upon deliberations, it was agreed that Sean Murphy (Physical Education teacher at GDRMS) would be offered the position for the upcoming 2017 season.  Mr. Murphy accepted the offer on Thursday and met with our incoming Freshmen class on Fridayafternoon at the MS.

We are excited to have such knowledgeable, fair and motivated coaches join our staff.  They are eager to lead our teams when participants return to Chicopee Row in August.

Friday/Monday schedule information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I just wanted to make sure that all parties were aware of expectations and bussing for the last two days of school.  Although students may get dismissed without penalty after they complete their exams, Friday is scheduled as a full day of school.  Busses will run at normal times.

Monday is scheduled as a release day.  On Monday all high school students who have work to be made up, have detentions that have not been served or have scheduled attendance appeals are expected to be in school.  Any student who has completed all of their work and has taken all exams are not required to be present.  Bussing will be provided as usual so that any student required to attend will have transportation.

Sincerely,

Mike Woodlock

GD Ultimate Frisbee

GD Ultimate Team Impresses at State High School Tournament

Congratulations to the Groton-Dunstable Ultimate Frisbee Team for its strong showing at last weekend's Massachusetts High School Division III Ultimate Team Championships in Northampton, Mass. GD's mixed team finished ninth out of the 21 teams competing in the tournament, compiling a 3-1 record, including winning it's last three matches in a row.

GD's performance in this year's tournament was particularly impressive given that only six of the 20 team members had competed in Ultimate before this season. The team was led by Captains Jennifer Kenney ('17), Patrick O'Reilly ('18) and Zach Miller ('18). Special thanks to coaches Richard Dorff and Bart Yeager for volunteering their time to guide the team this year.

Graduation

Graduation will continue as planned tomorrow evening at 6pm.  Should the forecast change dramatically before tomorrow evening we will move the ceremony indoors.  Forecasts at this time indicate the slightest chance of a passing shower so lets all hope it stays that way.  We are looking forward to celebrating the achievements of all of our graduates.
