GDRHS Students of the Month

My name is Brittany Belanger and I am about a week away from officially graduating Groton-Dunstable Regional High School.  I have had many great experiences during my time here and have learned an immense amount.  I’ve lived in Dunstable since I was 7 years old and the biggest difference I noticed here in comparison to my old school was the teachers.  The teachers at GD are interesting and challenging, but are also extremely dedicated to helping their students reach their goals.  Since entering high school, I have participated on the girl’s varsity soccer team, girl’s varsity track and field team, and the girl’s varsity tennis team.  I also managed the girl’s varsity basketball team, which is extremely fun and I would recommend to anyone that enjoys basketball and isn’t afraid of Mr. Hennelly.  I will be attending the University of Vermont in the fall, and as of now plan to major in Biology.  My ultimate goal would be to enter medical school and become an anesthesiologist because science fascinates me and I love helping people.  I am honored to be chosen as a student of the month and thanks to my parents and all the teachers I’ve had that have helped me with my accomplishments!

My name is Samantha Boggiano and I am a senior at GDRHS. I have lived in Groton most of my life, and although I love it here, I am so excited to head off to college next fall. Which college, I haven’t decided yet, but I do know I will be going for Biology. I fell in love with everything to do with science freshman year, and I can’t wait to continue my studies at the next level. My goal is to work with medicine and drug development and research during and after college! I am currently the Treasurer of Drama Guild and Vice President of the Gamer’s Club. I want to thank my family, friends, and all the teachers and staff at GD for supporting me all the way.

My name is Bryan Heffernan and I am a senior at GD. I have lived in Groton my whole life. Since a young age, I have been dedicated in playing the piano for I really enjoy it. This senior year has been a blast for me seeing that I have been able to take all math and science classes except for one required English class. As you may have figured out, for me math and science is where it’s at. Therefore, I will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where I will be pursuing a degree in Computer Science. In the winter, I enjoyed competing on the ski team and being able to race with and against my friends. For the past four years I have been a member of the math team where I was able to apply the math I have learned in the classroom. I would like to thank Google for greatly influencing my life. I would not have made it where I am today without the help of Google and, of course, my teachers as well.

Hi I'm Sarah and I really enjoyed my two years at Groton Dunstable. I did four years at Greater Lowell Technical high school where I studied early childhood education. I have a teacher certificate and also did human development at GD where I got to work with kindergarten age children. I would like to become a preschool teacher when I finish school. I ride a horse named Red at Apple Tree Farm. I've been riding since I was in elementary school.

My name is Bridgette Philibert, I am a junior here at GD. I moved to Groton in the 4th grade. I have a brother in 10th grade and a sister who just entered kindergarten! With the summer before my senior year approaching quickly, I have begun to look at colleges that offer programs in psychology. For the past three years that I have attended the high school I have taken pride in participating in the Women's History Month Committee. I currently serve as the President on this club and will be returning as such next year with high hopes and a large ambition to spread awareness for an important issue. Besides serving on the WHM committee, after school, I also work at Target in Nashua and nanny for a family in Groton 4-5 days a week. It is an honor to be recognized as a student of the month, there are so many faculty members that have made my time at GD worth while but I would not be where I am today with out Mrs.Reynolds.

Like this autobiography, I will soon escape the minds of the community here at GD, so I’ll make this quick. My name is Riley Rainville. Although I did attend all four years of high school at GD, I lived in Georgia for most of my life. I have 6 siblings - a sister, half sister, step sister, and three step brothers. I have been to 16 of the 50 states, never venturing outside the country’s border. I hope to change that though, for I’d love to travel to a Spanish speaking country and make proper use of the 7 years of Spanish classes that I’ve taken. Bread - bread is my all-time favorite food. I didn’t realize how much I ate it until I gave it up this past year, which didn’t last long. Chicken nuggets just aren’t the same without their light, flaky, breaded coat.. I’m also an owl enthusiast. They are beautifully mysterious creatures, yet also quite creepy with their bulging eyes and revolving necks. In fact, I’m hoping that there are many owls in western Massachusetts since I’ll be attending UMass Amherst in the fall.

My name is Hannah Tompkins and I’m a senior at GD as well as graduating this week. I’ve lived in Dunstable almost my entire with my mom, dad, my sister Meira, and my brother Dougie who have always loved and supported me unconditionally. I am so thankful to have grown up in such a great town and it’s been a privilege to attend high school here. Thank you to all of my friends, family, and teachers for making my senior year the best and most memorable of them all. Next year I will most likely be studying Public Health/Epidemiology at the University of Rochester at the suggestion of my esteemed peer Fiona Henry, whom I would not have made it without. Thanks to Mr. Kleeman for all the laughs and for truly being my favorite teacher ever, it’s been a good four years.

My name is Liam Frisby, I am currently a Senior at GDRHS, and will be graduating this coming week. I have lived in Groton with my mother and sister for sixteen years now. My sister graduated from GD two years ago, and is currently attending UMASS Amherst. I myself will be attending Southern Maine Community College this fall, majoring in Horticulture. I am hoping to pursue a career in herbaceous medicines, with the hopes of providing a natural alternative for people who want it, and those that need it. My sister is someone that I look up to, she is level headed, determined, and intuitive. If I aspire to be like anyone, It’s like her, because, we went through the same things growing up, and she made it out, and is doing really well for herself. While I made some poor choices here, and some mistakes there academically, I barely crossed the finish line, but I’ve learned more from having making those mistakes, and now have a completely different outlook on everything. I can’t say I am glad to have made as many poor choices as I did, but I am glad to have made a mistake and learned from it, than not to have made a mistake at all. Through it all my sister was someone I could always look to for example, and see how well I could do if I just made the best choices for myself.

My name is Edward Van Corbach and I am a senior here at GD. I have been a member of the GD ski team since sophomore year and have played the violin since age seven. I also enjoy golf and hanging out with friends in my spare time. I’ve always been interested in math/science and even from a young age I have always wanted to be an engineer. Next year I’ll be taking my first step into that career path by majoring in Chemical Engineering at UMass Lowell. I hope to also take a minor in Biomedical Engineering. Eventually I hope to work on the development of prosthetics or artificial organs.
