GDRHS Playoff Update

GIRLS LACROSSE
Groton-Dunstable 15, Mt. Greylock 6
Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Williamstown




Nicki Wilkinson had five goals and five assists, while Sara Walsh added four goals and an assist as the visiting No. 5 Crusaders (11-6) topped the No. 4 Mounties (19-3) in a Central/West Division 2 quarterfinal.  Sophia Irby and Alexa Stathis each scored twice.
The girls will face No. 1 Bromfield (18-1-1) in a semifinal on Wednesday night at 7:15pm. Game will be played  at Nashoba-Regional High School.

The boys and girls track and field athletes who competed in the All-State Meet did extremely well. Evan Lexo and Lucas Acaba move on to the All-New England Meet in Saco, Maine this Saturday. Evan placed 5th in the 100M and Lucas placed 6th in the pole vault. Lucas broke the school record which he previously held jumping 12' 9".  Nate Dante placed 14th in the 100M.  Sarah Morenz placed 14th in the discus.  Freshman, Emily Willson placed 13th in the 2 Mile breaking a school record running 11:30.

Three athletes will compete today (Monday, June 8th) at the weight pentathlon (Charles Sebastyn, David Heffernan, and Samuel Furman) and four more will compete on Tuesday and Wednesday in the decathalon (Jordan Dorff, Riley Patten, Patrick O'Malley, and Thomas Alden)
In my previous blog I failed to mention that Sylvia Thomas finished 6th in the discus throwing 90' 9"  


Golf
Freshman Isabelle Premkumar will be participating in the M.I.A.A. State Girl's Golf Championship Tuesday, June, 9th at Wentworth Hills Country Club, Plainvillle, MA. This is a tremendous achievement for a talented young lady!


Tennis
Boys tennis finished off a strong season over the weekend.  They qualified for the playoffs and defeated North Middlesex in the first round with a score of 4- 1.  On Saturday they suffered a tough loss at the hands of the number 1 seeded Littleton by a margin of 3 - 2. 


Boys Baseball
The boys baseball team had a great season.  They fell to Auburn this afternoon 4-0 ending a successful season for the team.
